Fabulous Fiber Smoothie

Fabulous Fiber Smoothie | Well and Full | #vegan #smoothie #recipe

Newsflash: I’m a huge doofus. For some reason my brain thought that yesterday was Friday and today is Saturday, which, of course, it’s not. So I guess I missed my own Smoothie Saturday post thanks to a huuuge lapse in brain function. Zoinks! But today is Sunday, and I humbly submit a belated Smoothie Saturday post. But I’ve got lots of awesome links to share, which I hope will make up for it!! :D

Today is also a really exciting day for me, because I’m having my first real photoshoot (!!!) for a very special project coming up. My best friend Jon’s little sister is taking the shots of me. She’s in school studying photography, but has already had a few gigs photographing weddings. She’s that good! I’m so excited to see how today’s shoot comes out – I’m not the most photogenic, and I have the hardest time keeping a straight face when I’m being photographed. I’ve got to try to stay kind of serious, though, because I’ll also be needing the shots for my About page here.

Just a quick note about today’s smoothie before I go into my link roundup – I made this smoothie especially for my mom, who said she wanted something with fiber in it. Although fruits and vegetables are a great natural source of fiber, to get a little boost I opted for psyllium husk – the seed of the plant plantago ovataPsyllium is a fantastic source of soluble dietary fiber, and can also be used as a binding agent in baking. It has a pretty neutral flavor, so it really lets the fruits in the smoothie shine through!

So without further ado, here’s what caught my eye on the webs this week:

1 // It wouldn’t be proper to have a post about psyllium husk without linking back to Sarah B’s Life Changing Loaf of Bread!

2 // My instagram crush of the week <3

3 // I just pre-ordered this book and I can’t wait until it comes in the mail!

4 // An interesting read about clean-eating, and the pressure some feel to have a really healthy lifestyle. I didn’t agree with some of what was said in this article, but I appreciate reading other perspectives than my own.

5 // I loved this visually stunning post about traveling in Marrakech, especially the photos of the spices, the ceramics, and the geodes!

6 // This post is from two years ago, but I came across these Herb Noodles by Sophie of Wholehearted Eats on Pinterest, and had to share them.

7 // Spring cleaning for the soul, by Lindsay of Cotter Crunch. A must-read.

8 // My special project (that I mentioned earlier in this post) is Christmas-themed. It’s funny to be photographing with candy canes and Christmas Tree cookie cutters in April, but I’ve been using this gorgeous shoot by Renee as inspiration for the look I’m going for.

I hope you all have a lovely rest of your weekend! :D

Hey Sarah. I’m always forgetting what day it is, I probably shouldn’t admit that, oh well! They say berries help brain function, that’s probably a good thing, though I like to think my brain is just thinking about something more important, if only I could remember what it is… (who am I kidding it’s just thinking about food probably). Is that your painting? It’s totally gorgeous I love it! Good luck with the shoot, that’s so exciting! It’ll be something to treasure I bet and make you feel amazing xx

Gorgeous! I actually have some psyllium husk leftover from when I attempted to make gluten-free bread and haven’t know what to do with it. Adding it to a smoothie is such a great idea!
