TikTok Viral Cucumber Trend Recipe (Well and Full Version)

This is my take on the viral TikTok cucumber trend by @logagm! In my version, I use a sweet and spicy combination of flavors like hot honey, Calabrian chili oil, and soy sauce.
Course Salad, Snack
Keyword cucumber, cucumbers, hot honey
Prep Time 5 minutes

Equipment

  • Mandoline

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Cucumber
  • 1 Tsp Calabrian Chili Oil see notes
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Ponzu Sauce see notes
  • Juice from 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 Tsp Hot Honey
  • 1/2 Tsp MSG see notes
  • Sesame Seeds to taste
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning to taste

Instructions

  • Rinse off your cucumber and dry completely.
  • Using a mandoline WITH ITS GUARD, slice your cucumber into a large jar or deli container with a lid, until the entire cucumber is sliced.
  • Into the container, add in the rest of the ingredients.
  • Put the lid on the container and shake vigorously, until all of the cucumber slices are coated with sauce.
  • You can eat the cucumber salad straight from the container, or serve on a plate.
  • Garnish with more sesame seeds and everything bagel seasoning, if you'd like.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don't have Calabrian chili oil, sub in any other spicy olive oil or garlic-infused olive oil.
  • Ponzu sauce is a Japanese citrus-based sauce, that tastes like citrusy soy sauce. It's sold at most grocery stores. If you can't get your hands on any, sub in more soy sauce.
  • MSG, or monosodium-glutamate, is a type of salt that adds depth of flavor to dishes. If you don't have any, or don't want to use it, just omit. DO NOT sub regular salt for MSG.
  • Add in as much or as little sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning as you like! Just remember that most everything bagel seasonings have some salt in them, so use with caution in addition to the rest of these salty ingredients.
