This Green Apple Sangria is crisp, fruity, and so easy to make! It’s a crowd-pleasing cocktail for fall dinners, holidays, and cozy weekends, made with real apples and apple vodka.
Given that it’s October but still 80+ degrees outside for those of us in Connecticut, it’s high time to make some chilled Green Apple Sangria! You don’t need me to wax on and on about climate change and how it’s impacting the seasons and produce (again). Instead, I’m just offering this refreshing beverage as a way to cool down from the unseasonably hot weather!
There are a lot of different approaches to making sangria. I debated using some sort of artificially colored liqueur to make this sangria, well, green. But I generally shy away from artificial coloring unless absolutely necessary, so I hope you all can forgive me! ;) The “green” part of the recipe title comes from the fact that this sangria is made with actual green apples. Of course, if early fall green apples aren’t available, Granny Smith apples are ideal as well! Enjoy!

Green Apple Sangria
Ingredients
- 750 mL Sauvignon Blanc 1 standard wine bottle
- 1 Cup Green Apple Vodka I like Smirnoff
- 2 Cups Apple Juice not cider
- Juice from 1/2 Lemon
- 2 Green Apples such as Granny Smith
- Ice
Instructions
- In a pitcher, combine the wine, apple vodka, and apple juice. Stir well.
- Just before serving, cut up the green apples into thin slices and add them to a bowl. Squeeze the lemon juice over the slices and mix (this will help prevent them from browning). Once all of the apple slices are covered in lemon juice, then you can add them to the sangria.
- Add enough ice to fill up the pitcher. Or, alternatively, you can add ice to individual glasses and pour the sangria over those.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- If making this sangria ahead of time, add the apples at the last minute.
- If planning to store this sangria in the refrigerator, store it without ice so that it doesn’t dilute the mixture.
- You don’t have to use Sauvignon Blanc, but I recommend it for its crisp taste that pairs well with green apple flavors. You can also try a Riesling or Pinot Grigio, or a white Moscato for a sweeter sangria.

Green Apple Sangria FAQs
How long will this Green Apple Sangria last in the refrigerator?
This Green Apple Sangria will last 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Make sure all of the fresh apples are submerged in the sangria to prevent browning.
Is this the same as Olive Garden’s green apple sangria? What is in Olive Garden’s green apple sangria?
This is not the same as Olive Garden’s recipe, which purportedly is made from Moscato, pineapple juice, and green apple purée. My recipe is instead made with real apple juice, apples, green apple vodka, and white wine.
Can you put apples in sangria?
Of course you can! Apples are a delicious, seasonal addition to sangria. Just be sure that you add them right before serving, so they don’t brown. Also, make sure they stay submerged in the sangria so that the flesh stays white and crispy!
