A Simple Green Vegan Smoothie

A Simple Green Vegan Smoothie | Well and Full | #vegan #recipe

Hello everyone! How are you all doing today? I have another great read for you this week – a piece about celebrating small victories by Lindsay of Cotter Crunch. I came across her post by happenstance, but it was exactly what I needed to read right now. In her post, Lindsay talked about how we always see people’s “big” victories online and through social media, which can often make our small victories seem inadequate. But she posted this really great quote to combat that thought: “You may not be where you want to be, but thank God you aren’t where you used to be.” Amen to that!

Reading those words meant a lot to me, because I’ve been feeling frustrated that I haven’t come farther in my health journey. I thought I would be entirely healed by now, or at least figured out why I’ve been having such terrible digestive issues. I was lamenting these things to my doctor, who essentially said: “Think about where you were a few months ago. And think about where you are now. Can’t you see that you’ve come so far?” And I stopped to think about it and realized…. yes, I have come far! A few months ago I was barely getting out of bed in the morning. I was so sick I didn’t care about my future in nutrition, or even about my blog. It didn’t matter what happened to me because I didn’t have any hope that I would get better. But now I care! Now I’m getting out of bed in the morning, working on my blog, looking at nutrition programs – doing all of the things that seemed so unattainable a just a few months ago. I may not be where I want to be yet, but thank God I’m not where I used to be.

And that’s really the crux of the whole thing. When you step back and get a little perspective, you realize that the small victories ARE big victories in their own right. And sure, maybe we didn’t graduate from grad school or get married or win the Nobel Peace Prize, or whatever it is these other people have done on social media. But each small victory is a step in the right direction, towards that big goal or dream or wish. And that – moving forward – is what really counts.

That’s right, it’s so hard to see victories too, and properly realise them, much easier to hold onto disappointments somehow. Sounds like you’ve come a long way already! I think what the nutritionist said about eating more fats could be something that makes you feel a lot better. Gorgeous smoothie! :)

I feel like I need those words in bold sitting on my desk. Sometimes I need a reminder to stop kicking myself so hard for not being as far as I would like to be but those words really put things in perspective and is something Lewis used to tell me all the time. This green smoothie sounds so luscious! I really hope you feel better soon Sarah! <3
