This sweet, delicious Banana Bread Latte went viral on TikTok for good reason! It truly tastes like banana bread in a glass, thanks to the sweet banana bread syrup made from bananas, brown sugar, and spices. Plus, you can serve this latte hot or iced, making it perfect for any season!
If you’ve ever traveled to Western Europe, you’ll know that finding a true iced coffee is as easy as finding a five-leafed clover. And don’t get me wrong, I love hot coffee, and drink it at home (as opposed to iced) most mornings. But when you’ve been in France for 10 days, with little to no air-conditioning, and 95 degree temps every day, you want iced coffee. I genuinely don’t know how the French do it. Most homes and businesses don’t have AC, but a shocking amount of people still wake up every morning and have a cigarette and a piping hot cup of coffee. No, this is not a stereotype, this is a cultural norm!
While my husband and I had fun adventures in Europe for our 5-year wedding anniversary, I was so glad to return to the land of cold beverages – America. The Land of the Free and the Home of the Iced Coffee that is Mostly Ice ;) And when I saw Banana Bread Lattes trending on TikTok, the timing was perfect!
About the Recipe
This Banana Bread Latte has all the banana bread flavor without the, you know, bread. You make a syrup using ripe bananas, brown sugar, and spices, then infuse that into your coffee. From there, you can add in any milks you like, or even whipped cream like I did! I also think that this would make an AMAZING affogato, which is an Italian dessert of espresso and ice cream. All you’d need to do is serve the syrup on top, and you’d have Banana Bread Affogato! Enjoy! :)

- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 1 Cup Water

Instructions
- First, make the banana bread syrup. Add the sliced banana, brown sugar, vanilla, honey, water, cinnamon, and sea salt to a small saucepan, and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, then reduce to a simmer.
- Simmer the syrup on low heat, stirring often, for about 8-10 minutes, or until all the sugar is melted and the mixture is slightly reduced.
- When done, strain the banana solids from the syrup and let it cool to room temperature before using.
- To build your latte, you can use hot or iced coffee or espresso. Pour in your favorite milk, then drizzle the syrup on top and mix.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- I like to use Nielson-Massey Vanilla Bean Paste for recipes that require uncooked vanilla.
- This banana bread syrup would also be delicious over ice cream or pancakes!

What does banana bread taste like? What are the flavors in banana bread?
Banana bread is a loaf cake made with super-ripe bananas, sugar, eggs, flour, and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and sometimes cloves. But the strongest flavor comes from the bananas themselves, which is why we infuse them into the syrup in this recipe.

The recipe couldn’t be simpler – you brew coffee or espresso, hot or iced, then stir in the banana bread syrup! You can use any milk of your choosing, like almond milk or coconut milk.
