These easy, simple Christmas Crostini are the perfect holiday appetizer! They’re a convenient, crowd-pleasing starter that everyone will go for. You can also mix them up with different types of jam or herbs for topping!

I have a shocking dearth of appetizer recipes here on Well and Full, and it’s about time I changed that! And what better way to add to my appetizer recipe inventory than with an easy, quick dish? Making crostini is super easy but it sounds fancy, so you can impress your guests.

As a food blogger whose life revolves around produce and plants, winter is the most difficult time in terms of my career. Well, it’s the most difficult season, period. So many of us are impacted by Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – the inhospitable weather outside, the lack of sunlight, and more, bringing down our. moods. So I appreciate you all bearing with me as I share recipes at a slower pace around this time. I hope you can all find time to go a little slower and have grace with yourselves this winter <3 Hugs!

Christmas Crostini

These easy, simple Christmas Crostini are the perfect holiday appetizer! They're a convenient, crowd-pleasing starter that everyone will go for!
Course Appetizer
Keyword baguette, bread, cranberries, goat cheese
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Servings 20 pieces
Calories 133kcal

Ingredients

  • 1 Baguette sliced on the bias
  • 1/4 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 8 oz Goat Cheese a large block or two smaller blocks
  • 1 Cup Cranberry Chia Jam
  • Fresh Thyme for garnish

Instructions

  • First, either make the cranberry chia jam or use a jam of your choosing!
  • To begin, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Cut your baguette into about 20 slices, on the bias (diagonally). Each slice should be about 3/4" inch thick or so.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the olive oil on each side of each baguette slice.
  • Place all of the olive oil-brushed sliced of the baguette on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the slices in the oven for about 12-14 minutes, until golden (but not over-browned). Check often near the end of the cooking time to prevent burning.
  • Take the crostini slices out of the oven and let them cool on a baking tray.
  • Then, add about 1 tbsp of goat cheese to each crostini (it doesn't have to be exact). Spread on a scant tablespoon of cranberry chia jam on top of the goat cheese, then garnish with fresh thyme. None of these measurements need to be exact – measure with your heart!
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For this recipe I recommend using my Cranberry Chia Jam recipe, but you can use any jam you like, such a strawberry or cherry!
  • If you don’t like goat cheese, sub for plain cream cheese.
  • You can prep all of the ingredients beforehand, but wait to assemble the crostini until just before serving for maximum crispiness!

Christmas Crostini FAQs

Can these Christmas Crostini be made ahead of time?

You can prep all of the elements separately, then assemble the crostini right before serving! I don’t recommend assembling them ahead of time, because the bread might get soft.

Are these Christmas Crostini made with cream cheese?

No, I have you use goat cheese in the recipe, which provides the perfect savory counterbalance to the chia jam! However, if you don’t like goat cheese, you can use cream cheese as well.

Do I have to use chia jam?

No, you can use any type of jam you like!
